Founder & President

Austin Butler

I founded Teaching.com with the simple goal of helping kids learn proper touch typing skills. I never expected we would end up helping so many students and teachers around the world. We might not be able to call ourselves a start-up anymore, but we still foster the same excitement and drive to change the future of education.

Co-Founder

Mike Gecawich

Newport, RI

I enjoyed a successful career as a business education teacher for 17 years, during which time my passion and energy for teaching earned me several “teaching” accolades that I am so proud of, as it was a reflection of the wonderful students I had the privilege to teach.

It was this very dedication and enthusiasm for teaching students the importance of CTE programs that ultimately led me to want to expand my reach to students beyond the classroom. This led me to the founding of B.E. Publishing over 20 years ago, allowing me to bring my experience from the classroom to a national student audience.

Over the past three years, I partnered with the team at Teaching.com to introduce innovative and engaging platforms for the classroom. These new platforms allow us to deliver CTE learning in a whole new way.

As Co-Founder of Teaching.com, I continue to engage and listen to the CTE teacher community by attending and speaking at numerous conferences every year. My primary goal is to continue to make CTE programs grow and earn the respect they deserve.

VP of Product Development

Travis Alexander

Fort Collins, CO

It’s really cool to be able to say “I love what I do!“, but it’s even cooler knowing that every day I’m helping countless teachers, and millions of children. Along with a really great team, my day to day is building the absolute best in educational technology. In my free time, I’m heavily involved with musical education, especially composition. I also rock climb far too much, and have an absurdly cute puppy named Nitro.

Customer Success Advisor

Christina Matherly

Los Angeles, CA

My experience working with people of all levels in diverse industries led me down the path to Customer Support. I live in Lakewood, California with my husband where we can enjoy the mountains, oceans and desert, which are all at our fingertips! Working remotely, I’m able to work from the oceanfront, amidst the trees in the mountains, or poolside in the hot desert sun, but always, of course, with my dog Roxy in tow!

Design Director

Tim Dikun

Houston, TX

I taught myself how to make websites in middle school and “became a designer” while making custom MySpace templates for my friends and websites for my Starcraft clan. I live in Houston with my wife and son, though I’ll never stop thirsting for the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

HR & Market Research

Jackie Markot

San Juan, Puerto Rico

I've worked in HR at companies of different sizes and stages, but really enjoy being at a small, growing firm where I get to wear another hat doing Market Research! I split my time between New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico with my fiancé and our adopted "sato,” a type of dog from Puerto Rico, named Luna. I love exploring everything that’s new and always changing in New York and enjoying the beach and scuba diving in Puerto Rico.

DevOps

Nick Allevato

Seattle, WA

I work hard, climb hard, study hard and I love supporting a team that is not only talented, but makes a difference— I believe helping educate children is one of the most important ways to make a difference in the world. I used to work for film studios making movies (I have a screen credit) and commercials, where I honed my automation and scripting skills. Combining those with my infrastructure and IT experience, DevOps is a natural fit. Thanks for reading about me!

Software Developer

Brent Strandy

Seattle, WA

At the dawn of high school a little game called Red Alert was released and, as I’ve come to realize, was the spark that ignited my joy, creative passions and drive for coding. It’s been many years since I wrote my first line of code - languages, libraries and IDEs have come and gone - but the joy I experience now is the same I felt when I saw those infamous words for the first time over a decade ago: “Hello World”

Brent's Meal Adventures

Backend Developer

Vlad Kobilansky

Hollywood, FL

I have about twenty years of application development and software architecture experience. I've helped to bootstrap a few successful startups and lead high visibility projects for Fortune 50 companies. I have a strong passion for clean code, beautiful UI and effortless user experience. If I’m not grappling with programming challenges, I'm likely at the gym training in Brazilian jiu jitsu or muay thai. Or visiting some far away place.

Developer

Jeferson Almeida

Curitiba, Brazil

I’m a crazy guy that likes to mess around with programming code, and fortunately I’m able to make my living by programming! I’m also an amateur rock ’n’ roll musician, football player, haute cuisine chef, husband and dad (I know, that’s a lot of roles for just one guy). I live in the best part of Brazil (Paraná), from where I convert lots of chimarrão, pinhão, churrasco, coffee and artisanal beers into programming code, that somehow, turns into great systems.

DevOps

Diego Velez

Saltillo, Mexico

Since I was a kid I always loved to mess around with computers, and I’m fortunate now to make a living with that by creating awesome infrastructures on the cloud. I love heavy metal music and often play drums (just casually). I live in the best taco factory in the world (Mexico) and from here I make my crazy ideas come to life.

Product Designer

Julian Rosado

Poughkeepsie, NY

I love flexing my creative thinking and designing experiences that reflect our users: smart, effective, and human. I also specialize in consuming coffee or coffee related foodstuffs. My family and I live in the beautiful Hudson Valley region of New York and you’ll never convince me to move.

Julian's Meal Adventures

Product Designer

Colin Spence

Edmonton, Canada

I am passionate about design and the way it affects people's everyday lives. Ever since I've had the incredible opportunity to witness the massive impact that design can have through developing learning resources with my wife who teaches students with autism, I have been completely hooked. When I'm not designing, you can find me biking through the river valley in Edmonton, Alberta, perfecting my home brew recipes, or dancing in the living room with my daughter.

Education Sales Consultant

Michael Toward

Omaha, NE

I have been in the Education Sales Industry for the past 3 years focusing on enhancing the student's ability to learn. I am currently living in Omaha, NE, but was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I’m an avid sports fan, and if the Steelers, Pirates or Penguins are playing I’ll be watching! I recently picked up golf, so in my free time you can usually find me on the course or at a driving range.

Education Sales Consultant

Joshua Buce

San Antonio, TX

As the son of an educator, I spent more of my childhood in the halls of my mother's elementary school than I did in my own home. Education quickly became a passion of mine as I watched my mother work tirelessly to ensure her students were properly equipped to succeed both academically and in their personal lives. I could think of no better way to honor her legacy, than to devote myself to assisting and empowering educators like herself. During my free time, you can find me performing in musical theater productions in the San Antonio area, singing at local cabarets, or tap dancing my heart out!

Director of Finance

Corey Bach

Austin, TX

With Midwestern roots and an entrepreneurial spirit, I bring a diverse background in accounting and finance for high-growth, scaling businesses. I have a technical skill set, but my passion lies in communicating the story. Contributing to, and constructing, ridiculously productive and passionate teams is insatiably motivating for me. I'm a baseball addict, family man, and education fanatic that enjoys weekends of landscaping and cooking Texas BBQ.

Analyst

Aaron Yang

San Juan, Puerto Rico

My insatiable desire to learn and solve problems has toppled me through the gauntlet of the education system. I've gone from high school math teacher, to starting a private school, launching an education conference, a youth entrepreneur program, and working in the life coaching industry. It's certainly a privelege and honor to be able to be a part of shaping someone's life. My best ideas come while I'm fishing, meeting new people, facebook'ing, and during long walks on the beach. Feel free to reach out! I love hearing people's stories and will be more than happy to share mine in exchange.

Project Manager

Dena Bachman

Arrowsic Island, ME

My family jokes that I was a born “organizer.” It’s true. I LOVE an organized project, room, garden…life! I live in “vacationland” with my wonderful husband and 2 awesome kids where a day often includes lobster, salty ocean air and wet doggie paws. I’m always reading at least 2 books, planning my next road race and pinning my next great DIY project.

Nitro Type Mascot

Nitro

Fort Collins, CO

Nitro is a six-month old Golden Retriever puppy-- he’s our “virtual office” dog and the Nitro Type mascot. While he can’t exactly play Nitro Type, he has an honorary “Golden” Membership and lives up to his name by sprinting around as fast as he can! A native of Colorado, he lives with Travis and loves hiking and exploring the outdoors. His hobbies include playing with new toys and being a rawhide connoisseur!
